Polytheism

Polytheism is the belief in multiple gods. This is in contrast to monotheism, the belief in one deity. Most ancient religions were polytheistic and in modern times Hinduism is largest and best known of the polytheistic religions, being one of the few polytheistic religions from that ancient time period that did not die out. The trend over time has been towards Monotheism.
